• Google unveiled Gemini Spark in May as an always-on AI assistant that can complete tasks on behalf of users in the background, initially rolling it out to AI Ultra subscribers in the US on the web, Android, and iOS.
• The Gemini app for macOS, which was released a couple of months ago, is now being updated with Spark capabilities, enabling users to automate time-consuming tasks on their Mac, such as organizing files or creating budget spreadsheets.
• Spark will soon allow users to run tasks remotely from their phone, assigning multi-step tasks to the agent, which can execute workflows on their Mac without requiring manual intervention.
• Google is also adding support for more apps, including Google Tasks, Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, and Zillow Rentals, enabling Spark to pull relevant information from these apps and carry out more complex tasks.
• The Model Context Protocol (MCP) support for Spark will allow users to connect the agent to a plethora of third-party apps that use the protocol, and the AI assistant can now track specified topics and react to them in real-time.
