• The Free Republic of Liberland is located on a disputed bit of territory between Serbia and Croatia, on a flat, muddy stretch of floodplain on the Danube River, and can only be accessed by boat due to restrictions imposed by Croatian authorities.
• Liberland's president, Vít Jedlička, founded the micronation with the goal of creating a truly libertarian, digital country that runs on the same technology as cryptocurrencies, and its government and economy are being built using blockchain technology.
• Citizens in Liberland vote on laws and referendums using digital tokens called Liberland Merits, which can be purchased, effectively allowing those with more money to have greater influence in the country's leadership.
